The CDC is examining unopened bottles of this eye drop. Global Pharma Healthcare issued a statement saying that the company is “voluntarily recalling all expired lots of their Artificial Tears Lubricant Eye Drops distributed by EzriCare, LLC- and Delsam Pharma.”

55 people suffering from infection, one died

According to the information, so far 55 people are suffering from the infection and there is also news of one death. According to the officials, this infection has spread in 12 states and it is affecting blood, urine and lungs. According to media reports, the patients using this medicine told that this medicine is available at the chemist’s shop without doctor’s prescription and it is used to cure itching and dryness in the eyes. According to media reports, a CDC spokesperson said that so far, at least five out of 11 patients have had direct infection in their eyes, losing their eyesight.

According to CBS News, doctors have issued a nationwide alert regarding an infection named Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This bacteria is found in open bottles of eye drops. However, it is being investigated whether people are getting sick due to this bacteria or the infection has come from somewhere else.
