WTC Final 2023 | WTC Final: Indian players fined 100 per cent of match fee for slow over-rate



Dubai: Indian players have been fined full match fees for slow over-rate during the World Test Championship final (WTC Final 2023) while the umpire’s decision to give them out on the disputed decision. An additional fine of 15 percent has been imposed on Shubman Gill, who criticized Australian players have also been fined 80 per cent of their match fees for slow over-rates. Australia won the match by 209 runs. “It was confirmed at the end of the final day’s play on Sunday that India will forfeit their full match fee and Australia 80 per cent of their match fee for slow over-rates,” the ICC said in a statement released on Monday. It further added, “Under Section 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, players have been fined 20 per cent per over for not completing their overs within the stipulated time.” ALSO READ: India were five overs behind in stipulated time, while Australia were four overs behind. Indian players included in the playing XI get Rs 15 lakh per test and reserve players get Rs 7.5 lakh. Gill was found guilty of breaching Article 2.7, which deals with public condemnation of an incident or improper statement during an international match. During India’s second innings, TV umpire Richard Kettleborough declared Gill out, whose hand touched the ground while taking a catch from Cameron Green. After the end of the day’s play, Gill posted a replay shot of the TV screen on social media. (agency)
