MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has allowed two bouncers in an over in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy to maintain the balance between bat and ball in the T20 format. The BCCI made this announcement on Saturday. This decision was taken in the BCCI Apex Council meeting on Friday. “To maintain the balance between bat and ball, BCCI has decided to allow two bouncers per over in the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy,” the BCCI said in a statement. Till now any bowler could do only one bouncer per over. The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will start from October 16, in which the ‘Impact Player’ rule will also apply like the Indian Premier League. The board has also decided to renovate stadiums across the country as they lack common facilities. Read also According to the statement, the first 10 stadiums in which the matches of the World Cup are to be played will be renovated. After this, the rest of the stadiums will be renovated. In the first phase, the match venues where the matches of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 will be played will be renovated, the BCCI said. This work will be completed before the start of the World Cup. Other stadiums will be renovated in the second phase.” The ODI World Cup will be played in India from October 5 to November 19. The matches will be played in Delhi, Dharamshala, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Lucknow and Ahmedabad. Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram will host practice matches.(Agency)
