SAI Coach | Sexual harassment case filed against SAI coach



Guwahati: Players of the Sports Authority of India’s (SAI) training center at Solalgaon have lodged an FIR against Mrinal Basumatary, in-charge of the center and swimming coach, alleging sexual harassment. According to a SAI release, most of the players who filed complaints are minor girls. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, a complaint was lodged at the Paltan Bazar police station on Thursday. “SAI follows the policy of zero tolerance in cases of sexual harassment and the same will be followed in this case also so that our players get justice,” SAI said in the release. Also read: During the selection trials in Guwahati, some players and their coach of the SAI training center at Solalgaon raised the issue. The matter was referred to the Internal Committee of SAI Regional Center and investigation has already started. Sources in SAI’s Guwahati center said the matter was being dealt with on priority as it was extremely sensitive. He, however, refused to give further details in this regard. (agency)
