Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday spoke to Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and thanked him for his country’s “excellent support” during the evacuation of Indians from Sudan in April. The Prime Minister also conveyed his best wishes for the upcoming Haj pilgrimage. During the telephonic conversation, the two leaders reviewed a number of areas of bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on various multilateral and global issues of mutual interest, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a statement. The statement said that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed his full support for the initiatives being taken by India as the Chair of the G20 and said that he looked forward to his visit to India. It added that the two leaders agreed to stay in touch. India had set up a transit facility in Jeddah in April to evacuate Indians from crisis-hit Sudan. India, under its evacuation drive ‘Operation Kaveri’, had taken the evacuees from Sudan to Jeddah, from where they could return home. (agency)
