Ranchi. Star hurdler Jyoti Yaraji won her second gold medal in the Federation Cup Athletics Championships by finishing on top in the women’s 200m race here on Thursday. Andhra’s Jyoti, who won gold in the women’s 100m hurdles with a meet record on Wednesday, topped the 200m with a timing of 23.42 seconds. He also secured the qualification time for the Asian Athletics Championship to be held from July 12 to 16. Its qualification time is 23.50 seconds. Archana Suseendran of Tamil Nadu finished second in the event with a timing of 23.61 seconds. Amlan Borgohain of Assam won the gold medal in the men’s 200m race with a timing of 20.83 seconds. He, however, missed the qualification time of 20.61 seconds for the AFI Asian Championships. International javelin thrower Rohit Yadav also put in an impressive performance on Thursday. He won the gold medal with a personal best performance of 83.40m. His previous best performance was 82.54m. Manu DP won the silver medal with a throw of 82.95m. Five athletes clocked under two minutes 05.74 seconds in the women’s 800m race at the AFI’s Asian Championships. This race was won by Chanda of Delhi. In the morning session, long distance runner Gulveer Singh of Uttar Pradesh won the gold medal in the 5000m race. He has also won the yellow medal in the 10,000 meters race in this event. (agency)
