Photo: BCCI Colombo. India A thrashed Bangladesh A by 51 runs in the semi-finals to storm into the final of the Emerging Asia Cup, where Yash Dhull’s men will face Pakistan A, here on Friday. Bangladesh bundled out the Indian team for 211 after inviting them to bat, with skipper Dhull hitting a half-century of 66 off 85 balls. But the Indian spinners took advantage of the pitch to bundle out Bangladesh A for just 160 runs to win. Left-arm spinner Nishant Sindhu took five for 20 to start Bangladesh’s downfall. Young Delhi batsman Dhull came to the crease in the 19th over when the score was 75 for two. Then this player played an important role in taking the team to the score of 200 runs by restrained batting. Dhull put up a tough fight with the Bangladesh bowlers while the rest of the team’s batsmen went to the pavilion in an attempt to be aggressive. Due to this, the responsibility of the Indian innings was on the shoulders of Dhull. Dhull withstood the pressure and batted for a total of 30 overs in the match. He was the last player to be dismissed in the 50th over. Dhull and Manav Suthar put on 41 runs for the eighth wicket as India came close to 200 and then crossed it. But this score seemed too low and the Bangladesh batsmen also got off to a brisk start. They scored runs at six runs an over, allowing openers Tanjid Hasan (51 off 56 balls) and Mohammad Nayeem (38 off 40 balls) to score runs at a good pace against the Indian bowlers. Also read Bangladesh reached 70 runs in less than 11 overs. But as soon as the shine of the ball started to fade, the Indian spinners brought their team back into the match. Left-arm spinner Suthar dismissed Nayeem, which triggered a march of Bangladesh batsmen towards the pavilion. After this, Bangladesh lost the remaining nine wickets in 90 runs, in which Sindhu’s magical bowling was excellent. Earlier, Pakistan A defeated Sri Lanka A by 60 runs in the first semi-final to book a place in the final to be held on Sunday. (agency)
