BCCI | BCCI to approve sexual harassment prevention policy in SGM

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India will approve a new policy on Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) in its Special General Body Meeting (SGM) to be held on May 27 in Ahmedabad. Along with this, a working group will also be constituted to look after the preparations for the ODI World Cup to be held in October-November. The five-point agenda of the SGM included constitution of infrastructure development and subsidy sub-committee, guidelines for appointment of physiotherapists and trainers in state teams, formation of working group for ICC World Cup 2023, constitution of Women’s Premier League committee and sexual harassment prevention policy. Also Read: BCCI had formed a four-member Internal Complaints Committee following allegations of sexual harassment against former BCCI CEO Rahul Johri, but the revised policy will add more members to the new committee. The World Cup Working Group will consist of the BCCI President, Secretary, Treasurer, Acting CEO and other senior officials. The board has allocated funds to improve the infrastructure of all the stadiums hosting World Cup matches. The Women’s Premier League committee will have to ensure that the window for the tournament is decided quickly. A franchise official told PTI, “This year the Australian women’s team will play international matches in the third week of February, so the Women’s Premier League can happen only after that.” The men’s World Cup is to be held during Diwali.” (agency)
