This is the reason why everyone from elders to doctors advise to drink milk. Milk rich in calcium is very important for the overall development of the body. Keeping this importance of milk in mind, World Milk Day, i.e. ‘World Milk Day’ is celebrated every year on June 1. So let’s know the history of ‘World Milk Day’ and its importance: World Milk Day is celebrated every year on June 1 with the aim of recognizing the dairy industry and spreading awareness among people about the benefits of milk. Celebrating this day began in the year 2001, when the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization established World Milk Day. At present, this day is celebrated in many countries around the world. While World Milk Day is celebrated on 1st June all over the world, National Milk Day is celebrated every year on 26th November in India. In India, this day is celebrated on the occasion of the birthday of Dr. Verghese Kurien, who is also known as the father of White Revolution in India. He is also known as ‘Milk Man’. The goal of celebrating Milk Day was to educate people about its benefits and importance, as well as how milk benefits local economies and communities. This day is celebrated every year only to increase public awareness about it. According to FAO, about six billion people consume dairy products. Not only this, dairy business helps in running the livelihood of more than one billion people. This year’s theme, every year a special theme is also decided for these days celebrated with a special purpose. Every year a theme is decided for World Milk Day. Talking about this year’s theme, this year the aim of the day will be to highlight how it is reducing its environmental footprints while providing nutritious food and livelihood.
