Abu Dhabi: Completely vegetarian dishes were served at a banquet hosted by the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in honor of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. The banquet, held at the presidential palace Qasr-al-Watan here, began with a salad of haris (wheat) and dates, which was served with local vegetables, and was followed by ‘grilled’ vegetables in a spice sauce. The dignitaries were served cauliflower and carrot tandoori with black lentils and local wheat. Also local seasonal fruits were also served. The banquet menu read, “All meals are vegetarian and prepared with vegetable oil and contain no dairy or egg products.” The Prime Minister is in Abu Dhabi on a one-day visit at the invitation of the President of the United Arab Emirates. Modi was accorded a traditional welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhawan ‘Qasr Al Watan’ here where he was received by the UAE President. The Prime Minister also inspected the Guard of Salute. PM Modi thanked the President of UAE for the welcome. He told the UAE President, “You have a huge contribution in the way the relations between our countries have expanded. Everyone in India sees you as a true friend.” Modi also said that preparations for the COP-28 to be held in the UAE are being done under the leadership of the UAE President. The Prime Minister said that he has made up his mind to participate in the conference to be held this year. During this the children were carrying the tricolor in their hands. India and the UAE are strengthening ties in areas such as trade, investment, energy, food security, science and technology, education, fintech, defence, security and people-to-people contacts.
