Modi has reached Papua New Guinea on the second leg of his three-nation tour. Modi had earlier said, “I am grateful that all 14 Pacific Island Countries (PICs) have accepted the invitation to participate in this important summit (FIPIC).” FIPIC was formed in 2014 during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Fiji. Leaders of 14 countries will participate in the FIPIC summit. Generally all these are rarely found together due to connectivity and other issues. PICs include Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu. Modi will hold bilateral talks with Marape and will also meet Governor General of Papua New Guinea Bob Dade. (with agency inputs)
