Ingredients for making Velvet Kofta-
– 100 grams – Khoya
– 6 tablespoons – Flour
– 1/8 teaspoon salt
-60 grams -Ghee
-1 teaspoon -Jeera
-1 teaspoon -finely chopped ginger
-2 tablespoons -Poppy
-1/4 cup -Coconut flakes
-1 teaspoon -ground coriander
-2 tsp- salt (as per taste)
-1 teaspoon -garam masala
– 1/4 tsp – ground black pepper
-2 teaspoons -Cornflour mixed in 1/2 cup milk
-2 teaspoons -chopped green coriander
Method of making Makhamli Kofta-
To make velvet kofta, first of all mash the khoya well and add a little more flour to it and knead it like a dough. Now make small balls of this dough in the shape of kofta. Now heat ghee in a pan and fry small balls of flour in it till light brown on low flame. Now take out all these balls in a pot. Now to make kofton gravy, soak poppy seeds and coconut in little water for an hour and grind them to make a paste.
Now heat ghee in a heavy pan and add cumin seeds. When cumin splutters, add ginger and fry till light brown. Now fry ground poppy seeds and coconut paste, coriander, salt, garam masala and black pepper. Add 3 cups of water and boil for about 5 minutes. Now add cornflour solution and boil for few minutes, then add kofta. Boil again for 2-3 minutes and garnish with cream and green coriander leaves. Your tasty Makhamli Koftas are ready. Serve them hot with roti or paratha.
