New Delhi: Along with Taiwan-based Foxconn chairman Young Liu, Minister of State for Industry Subhash Desai, Additional Chief Secretary (Industry) Baldev Singh and MIDC Chief Executive Officer Dr. P. A delegation led by Anbalgan met.

The 22nd company in the Fortune 500 list is expanding into the semiconductor manufacturing segment and is exploring the South Asian market to make its products available globally. For this, the Foxconn group has also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. Against this backdrop, the visit by the state delegation is expected to generate huge employment through project investment by Foxconn.

The state delegation also included MIDC co-chief executive officer Ajit Patil, Ranga Naik and general manager (marketing) Abhijit Ghorpade. The delegation held discussions with Foxconn’s experts in ICT, electric vehicles, mobility and battery manufacturing. Major industries like Wipro, Honeywell, Mitsubishi, Cassis e-Mobility, Tata Motors and Exide have already invested in the state. The delegation shared its experience with the investment and discussed localization and sourcing options.

Industry Minister Subhash Desai clarified that Foxconn would receive full institutional support from the state government and ensure the development of a high-tech but socially conscious ecosystem. He hoped that this would create a large number of skilled jobs. He said that more than 4 lakh jobs have been created in the last two years by focusing on strategic investment. Liu, President of Foxconn, also expressed his intention to work together with Maharashtra to develop world-class talent and products that are ready for the future.
