In the last seven days, the number of patients in the state has increased by 130 per cent. Mumbai has seen an increase of 135 per cent, Palghar 350, Thane 191 per cent, Pune 50 per cent and Raigad 130 per cent.

May 30 to June 5 – 4,880 patients May 23 to May 29 – 2070 patients 135.75% increase
Thane
May 30 to June 5 – 1,245 patients May 23 to May 29 – 427 patients 191.57% increase
Pune
May 30 to June 5– 538 patients May 23 to May 29– 357 50.70% increase
Raigad
May 30 to June 5 – 244 patients May 23 to May 29 – 106 patients 130.19% increase
Palghar
May 30 to June 5 – 144 new patients May 23 to May 29 – 32 new patients 350.00% increase 1.04% of these patients are critically ill. Only 4.31% of patients have symptoms while 95% of patients have no symptoms.
Central government’s letter to Thackeray government
In view of the increase in corona cases, the central government has written to five states, including Maharashtra, asking them to take precautionary measures and implement strict measures to prevent an increase in the number of patients. Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has written letters to Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana and Karnataka in this regard. The letter said the growing number of patients in the states is likely to increase the risk of local infections.

There has been a significant decline in corona cases over the past three months. However, 15,708 new cases were reported during the week ended May 27, compared to 21,055 on June 3. The positivity rate was 0.52 per cent in the last week of May and 0.73 per cent in the first week of June.
