Restrictions apply in Maharashtra
The state government has imposed some restrictions to prevent the spread of the disease in the state. The state has also seen more than a thousand positive patients in the last two days. Some additional restrictions have been imposed across the state as per the Disaster Management Act 2005 as Christmas festivities, wedding ceremonies, New Year’s receptions are likely to increase the risk of infection due to overcrowding. These restrictions have been in effect since midnight on December 24, 2021. Gathering of more than 5 persons in all public places across the state will be banned from 9 pm to 6 am. The number of attendees in a closed hall for a wedding should not exceed 100 at a time and in open space the number should not exceed 250 or 25 per cent of the capacity of the space whichever is less. For other social, political, religious events also the number of attendees should not be more than 100 and in open space this number should not be more than 250 or 25% of the capacity of this space whichever is less.

For events other than the above two events, the confined space where seating capacity is fixed shall not exceed 50 per cent of the capacity and where seating capacity is not fixed it shall be 25 per cent. In all such events, if they are held in open space, the attendance should not exceed 25 per cent of the seating capacity. Attendance shall not exceed 25 per cent of the seating capacity of the venue for sports competitions, sports ceremonies. The District Disaster Management Authority will determine the number of attendees at any of the above non-breaking ceremonies or gatherings. In doing so, the Disaster Management Order of 27 November 2021 will be complied with.

Restaurants, gyms, spas, cinemas, theaters will have 50 per cent capacity attendance. All of them will have to declare their full potential as well as 50 per cent capacity. In addition, the District Disaster Management Authority will be able to impose restrictions wherever it deems necessary and will need to give the public an idea before doing so. The District Disaster Management Authority may impose stricter restrictions where necessary, taking into account local conditions. Even so, owning one is still beyond the reach of the average person.
