The Indian economy is set to grow at a strong pace and the country’s GDP is expected to grow by 9-10 per cent in the current financial year, the CEO said. The CEOs made the above predictions in a survey of members conducted by the CII National Council.
About 10 per cent of CEOs have projected GDP growth to exceed 10 per cent in 2021-22, the CII said in a statement on Sunday. The survey is based on responses from 100 CEOs.
The government’s emphasis on public works, separate interventions to increase cash liquidity and relaxation of regulations in the last few months, product-based incentive schemes for various sectors and other reforms are expected to lead to a major recovery in the economy, CII President T.V. Narendran has said. When asked how much impact Omycron would have on the business, 55 per cent of CEOs said it would have a negative impact on the services sector. Meanwhile, 34 per cent CEOs indicated that it would have a negative impact on the manufacturing sector. According to the CII, 56 percent of respondents believe that the economy will grow between 9 and 10 percent in 2021-22, while another 10 percent will increase GDP by more than 10 percent.
Thirty-five percent of CEOs said their company’s revenue grew 10 to 20 percent this year (compared to Kovid’s 2019-20), while 33 percent expected a 20 percent increase in revenue.
