At present, patients are being monitored at the airport and swipe testing and screening is underway and the state government is taking precaution against this variant, said Health Minister Rajesh Tope. The corona testing certificate 72 hours in advance has been made mandatory for air travel and strict checks are being carried out at the airport. There is also a rule for quarantine. A request letter has been sent to the Center along with a letter from the Mumbai Municipal Commissioner to stop the flights coming from South Africa and the Center should take a prudent decision, said Rajesh Tope.

Demand from the Center as the State has no authority

Flights from South Africa need to be canceled in the wake of the Omicron virus. Since the state does not have the authority in this regard, we have also demanded from the Center. Although the Omicron variant has been found in South Africa, its immediate effects are not likely to be seen in Maharashtra. The decision to open the school was taken by the education department and the health department has given NOC. However, the Chief Minister will hold a meeting of all the departments in this regard tomorrow evening in which the appropriate decision will be taken after discussing the school issue, informed Rajesh Tope.
