A CIRO survey conducted by ICMR on people between the ages of 6 and 17 in the country and some health workers revealed that 67.6 per cent of the population had anti-corona antibodies. This proves that 40 crore people in the country are at risk of coronary heart disease due to lack of antibodies.

Antibodies in young children

More than 50 per cent of children in the country have been found to have anti-corona antibodies, according to ICMR Director General Dr. Given by Balram Bhargava. More than half of all children have corona antibodies without giving them corona, which is a sign that children have become corona, he said.

Important observations in the survey

The survey was conducted in June and July to check the levels of antibodies in citizens of different ages. It found that antibodies were produced in two-thirds of the country’s population and not in one-third. This is a relief for the country and an indication that we are moving towards herd immunity, experts say. Some in the survey produced antibodies after corona, while others produced antibodies after vaccination.

This was the fourth CIRO survey conducted by ICMR. It tested the blood samples of 28,975 children aged 6 to 17 and 7,252 health workers. The survey was conducted in 70 districts in 21 different states of the country.
