Colombo, July 14: The ODI series between India and Sri Lanka starts on July 18. The tour will feature a series of three ODIs and three T20I matches. The Sri Lankan team, returning from a tour of England, returned to the field to practice after the quarantine period was over, but the fear of the corona virus was evident on their faces. After returning from the England tour, Sri Lankan batting coach Grant Flower and data analyst GT Niroshan contracted corona. Now the Sri Lankan coach has come out to practice wearing a PPE kit, mask and gloves to protect himself from the threat of corona. This is the first time I have seen this picture on the cricket field.
The Sri Lanka Cricket Board has shared this video of the practice on YouTube. This video shows the coaches and staff wearing PPE kits. The series against India was postponed for five days after Corona joined the Sri Lankan team.
The India-Sri Lanka ODI series was scheduled to start on July 13, but now the series will start on July 18. The Indian team will play a series of three ODIs and three T20I matches during the tour. Shikhar Dhawan has been given the leadership of Team India.
The Indian team will play the first of three ODIs on July 18 against Sri Lanka. The three-match T20 series starts on July 25. All matches of the series will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Flower will be questioned after the quarantine period ends. The Sri Lankan players were not allowed to go home after returning from England. All the players were housed in a hotel in Colombo. Flower’s corona test came positive after returning from England tour.
The medical staff of the Sri Lankan team told ESPN Cricinfo, “We will have to find out how Flower contracted the corona.” With the exception of Flower and Data Analyst GT Niroshan, no player has had a corona. However, players returning from the England tour will have to go through another RTPCR test.
