New Delhi, June 07: The World Health Organization (WHO), which is monitoring the situation of Kovid-19 around the world, released its audit so far on Friday. WHO chief Tedros Ghebreyesus and Bruce Alward held a press conference. One of the many tasks of the organization is to implement public health initiatives and regulate health issues in the member countries of the organization. Therefore, the officials review this work from time to time and present it.
“As of this week, we have distributed 2 billion doses of vaccines worldwide,” Alward told a news conference. Most likely soon we will reach a milestone in terms of the number of vaccines distributed and the number of newly developed vaccines of Covid-19. Doses of the current 2 billion vaccines have been distributed in 212 countries. Of these, 75 per cent doses have been distributed in 10 countries, of which 60 per cent doses have been distributed in China, the US and India. ‘Mid-day has reported about this.
He further said, “COVAX has been instrumental in delivering doses of Covid-19 vaccine to 127 countries around the world and in initiating vaccination in countries where vaccination was a challenge. While these good things are happening on the one hand, on the other hand, only 0.5 per cent of the dose of Kovid-19 vaccine has reached the poorest countries where 10 per cent of the world’s population lives. The distribution of vaccines is a bit higher in a country where the lower middle class lives.
