Shreyas Iyer was injured while fielding in the first ODI between India and England in Pune. He was lying on his shoulder when he stopped. Iyer was ruled out of the series due to a serious injury. A doctor’s examination revealed that there was no alternative but surgery.
Delhi Capitals of IPL (IPL 2021) has suffered the most due to the injury of Shreyas Iyer. Shreyas Iyer will not be available for the 14th season of the IPL starting April 9. Rishabh Pant has been given the leadership of Delhi instead of Shreyas Iyer.
Shreyas Iyer could be out of cricket for at least four to five months after the surgery, so he could be ruled out of not only the IPL but also Team India’s tour of England. The BCCI plans to play a T20 series against New Zealand and South Africa in September. Shreyas Iyer’s play in this series is also in doubt.
