The central government is concerned over the rising number of coronavirus cases in Maharashtra.
Mumbai, February 23: Maharashtra has the highest number of coronavirus cases in the country. As a result, the number of corona (covid 19) patients in the country has started increasing again. The central government has also expressed concern over this. Meanwhile, the Modi government has now written to the Uddhav Thackeray government and suggested speeding up corona vaccination to control corona in the state.
Cases of corona are increasing rapidly in Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Amravati, Nagpur and Akola. Accelerate vaccination in these districts to control the growing corona. Vaccinate as many health workers and frontline workers as possible, the Union Health Ministry said in a letter.
There are currently less than 1.50 lakh active cases in the country. Kerala and Maharashtra have the highest number of them. The two states account for more than 50,000 cases, or about 75% of the total cases. Of these, 36.87% are in Maharashtra and 37.85% in Kerala. Such information has been given by the Union Ministry of Health.

The corona vaccination campaign started in the country from 16th January 2021. As on February 23, a total of more than 1.19 crore people have been vaccinated in the country. During the day, 1.61 lakh people were vaccinated till 6 pm. Of those, 63,458 health workers took a second dose of the vaccine. In Maharashtra, a total of 10,03,706 people were vaccinated with 9,29,848 first and 73,858 second doses.
Meanwhile, the central government had earlier said that vaccination in Maharashtra was slow. The Center had also released such statistics. Now there is an outbreak of corona in the state. Therefore, the Center has requested to speed up vaccination to control it.

Currently health workers and then frontline workers are vaccinated. People over the age of 50 will also be vaccinated from March. Which will include senior citizens and citizens with other ailments. The government aims to vaccinate 30 crore people.
