The cold conditions at Oymyakon in the village of Siberia in Russia were very bad. Due to the cold in this village, there is a situation where no crop is grown here. People live their lives mainly by eating meat.

So children up to 11 years old are allowed to stay at home if the temperature drops below -56 degrees Celsius to protect them from the cold. On a cold day, the temperature ranges from -45 to -50 degrees Celsius. So all the children have to go to school. Here the sun appears to have risen around 10 a.m. in December.
