Senior BJP leader and minister Anil Vij administered the vaccine at the Civil Hospital in Ambala. The vaccine was given to him under the supervision of PGI Rohtak and Health Department. According to the Vice Chancellor of PGI Rohtak, the first dose is being given to 200 volunteers first. Each will be given two doses. The second dose will be given 28 days after the first dose.

The vaccine was developed by Bharat Biotech and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). The third phase trial of this vaccine is underway. The vaccine was initially expected to arrive by the second quarter of next year.
